I am incredibly fortunate—growing up, I was constantly surrounded by my grandparents. Through conversations in Persian, my second language, I was inspired to take notes, ensuring I’d never lose the countless stories they shared. This project is my bridge across generations: a way to honor their past while tracing the roots of my own identity.
My family’s cultural/geographic roots are from Iran. My father's side of the family is from northern Iran, specifically from the Mazandaran province. My mother's family has roots in Ahwaz and Isfahan. According to the results of a DNA test, I also have ancestry in the Tehran and Yazd provinces. Ironically, my parents didn't meet until their paths crossed on the other side of the world, in California, USA.
In addition to managing motamedifamily.com, the information on this page has been gathered through many conversations, personal notes, and stories of other family members.
This page is still a work in progress, if you have any additions, suggestions, or corrections, please reach out!
I'm thinking about how to display the information still... :)
